Current official guidance identifies permanent residence for foreign-born children of Argentine citizens, qualifying applicants changing category after lawful temporary residence, and other grounds established by current rules. The published residence-history threshold is two years for MERCOSUR nationals and three years for non-MERCOSUR nationals, subject to presence and continuity rules.
