What the current source supports
- Document a regular and permanent pension equal to at least five Salarios Mínimos, Vitales y Móviles (SMVM). The indexed unit can change, so no currency conversion is presented.
- Provide certification from the government, international organization, or private company that granted the pension for services performed abroad, stating the amount and duration.
- Provide the current passport or accepted identity document, proof of regular entry, Argentine domicile, and the criminal-record evidence that applies to the applicant.
- For applicants age 16 or older, provide foreign criminal-record certificates from countries where the applicant resided for more than one year during the previous three years, subject to the authority’s current formalities.
- Begin through RaDEX, upload the required evidence, pay the applicable charges, and attend the appointment assigned by the migration authority.
Applicant scope
Who this route generally serves
- Generally designed for
- Retirees and pension recipients able to prove a regular, permanent pension from a government, international organization, or private company for services performed outside Argentina.

Route lifecycle
What to confirm from application onward
- Financial basis
- A regular and permanent qualifying pension equal to at least five current SMVM. No peso or foreign-currency equivalent is hard-coded because SMVM changes.
- Government service fees
- The route page does not publish a stable route-specific total. Confirm the current RaDEX charges and official migration-fee table before paying.
- Initial status
- Temporary residence for one year.
- Renewal
- The current service describes the one-year status as renewable. Renewal is a separate application and remains subject to the current requirements.
- Dependents
- No automatic dependent entitlement or route-specific financial increment is modeled from the cited pensioner materials.
- Work rights
- This guide does not infer unrestricted local employment, professional licensing, or portability from the pension basis.
- Presence considerations
- Current migration law generally exposes temporary residence to cancellation after an absence of at least six months, subject to statutory exceptions or prior authorization. Confirm the rule before travel.
- Permanent residence
- Permanent residence is a separate application. Current guidance generally uses two years of qualifying temporary residence for MERCOSUR nationals and three years for non-MERCOSUR nationals, subject to continuity and other rules; conversion is not automatic.
- Citizenship relationship
- Naturalization is a separate legal process and is not established by pensioner residence.
