Supported requirements
What the current source supports
- Show foreign-source income of at least three Salarios Básicos Unificados (SBU) per month for the three months before applying, or 36 SBU for a year. No currency conversion is presented because SBU is indexed.
- Provide international bank statements reflecting the income and evidence of work or services for a foreign employer, client, or company, or ownership of a company registered and domiciled abroad.
- Provide a passport valid for at least six months and the criminal-record certificates required for adults from the country of origin and qualifying countries of residence during the prior five years.
- Translate, apostille, or legalize foreign documents as applicable and maintain health insurance valid for the visa period with coverage in Ecuador.
- Use the current eVisas channel and follow the authority’s case-specific document and identity instructions.

- Government service fees
- No numeric fee is published here because Ecuador changed its digital-services model in 2026 and the older procedure amount has not been reconciled to the current model. Confirm the live eVisas charge before paying.
- Initial status
- Temporary residence for up to two years, subject to the individual grant.
- Renewal
- The general temporary-residence framework permits one renewal for up to another two years. Renewal is a separate decision and is not guaranteed.
- Dependents
- The regulation states an additional US$250 of monthly income for each sponsored person; it does not establish automatic approval.
- Work rights
- The supported basis is remote professional or service work for a person or company domiciled abroad. This page does not infer unrestricted local employment.
- Presence considerations

- Permanent residence
