What the current source supports
- Complete three consecutive years of qualifying Peruvian residence. During that period, do not remain abroad for more than 183 consecutive days in a 365-day period unless an applicable authorization preserves the residence history.
- Provide the signed change form, current passport or recognized travel document, and the required foreign judicial, criminal, and police record evidence covering the country of origin and countries of residence during the five years before arrival.
- Provide the additional evidence for the current qualifying category. The official procedure publishes distinct evidence for worker, investor, researcher, and religious residents rather than one universal financial test.
- An investor applicant must document at least S/ 55,000 in prior-fiscal-year gross income, current tax compliance, the prior three months of payroll showing ten jobs for Peruvians, and the applicable third- or fifth-category income evidence.
- The procedure may be filed through a representative under Resolution 0628-2024/SEL-INDECOPI. Migraciones may still require personal acts such as identity or biometric steps where current law permits.

- Financial basis
- The official procedure uses category-specific evidence. Worker, investor, and researcher branches publish a minimum S/ 55,000 of prior-fiscal-year gross income through the evidence specified for that branch; the religious branch uses a support declaration rather than that universal figure.
- Government service fees
- The current public procedure lists S/ 162.50 under payment code 07568. Confirm the live amount and payment channel before filing.
- Administrative service targets
- The public procedure states 30 working days for the result through the electronic mailbox. This is an administrative response period, not a guaranteed approval or completion time.
- Initial status
- Indefinite permanent residence with multiple entries, subject to the individual grant.
- Renewal
- The permanent residence itself is indefinite, but an adult permanent resident renews the Carné de Extranjería every five years; the rule states three years for children and adolescents.
- Dependents
- Family-based permanent residence has its own legal and procedural treatment. This activity-based conversion does not automatically confer status on a dependent.
- Work rights
- The permanent quality does not replace the labor, tax, or professional rules governing the resident’s activity. The religious branch retains its stated restriction on remunerated or lucrative work absent an extraordinary work permit.
- Presence considerations
- Permanent quality can be lost after more than 365 consecutive days abroad within a two-year period, counted from the first departure with reference to the approval date.
- Permanent residence
- This is a separate permanent-residence change, not an automatic consequence of completing three years. The State retains discretion to grant or deny the application.
- Citizenship relationship
- Naturalization is a separate procedure with its own residence, examination, conduct, and document requirements; permanent residence does not confer nationality automatically.
